It may seem a little hokey that sitting and thinking positive thoughts about your partner will suddenly transform your relationship into the loving, connected version you’ve always wanted.
But neuroscience has found that it actually works.
In fact, science has caught up to what practitioners of ancient medicine have known all along: compassion heals relationships. Studies tell us it strengthens feelings of connection and empathy and leaves you more likely to be kind to your partner (even when they’re leaving their socks on the floor).
So, what’s the magical alchemy of focusing your mind on kind thoughts? It has been shown to activate the pleasure circuits in the brain; compassion makes you deeply happy and content. During Compassion Meditation the integrative fibres of the brain will be stimulated leading to an increase in gamma waves, the brain-state associated with unity of conscious perception.
